Dr. Boon — Thai Social Security Reform
📖 Biography & Journey
Boon Arayapon holds degrees in Veterinary Science (DVM) and Law (LLB). Though he began his career as a veterinarian, his deep interest in legal rights and workers' welfare — combined with witnessing how millions of workers couldn't access their own SSO savings during crises — led him to become a full-time social security activist.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of Thai workers lost their jobs and income — yet their SSO old-age savings remained locked and inaccessible. This injustice prompted Boon Arayapon to found "Kor Khuen Mai Dai Kor Than" (We Demand Our Own Money Back, Not Charity). He led demonstrators to camp outside Government House, enduring repeated arrests without surrendering.
From street protester to SSO Board candidate, Boon Arayapon has tried every avenue to bring the people's voice inside the system. His greatest achievement so far: awakening millions of workers to demand the pension rights they have earned through decades of contributions.
"The money deducted every month belongs to us — not the government."

Three core workers' rights: Right to Choose — elect lump sum or monthly pension; Right to Withdraw — partial withdrawal in crisis; Right to Borrow — use SSO savings as loan collateral.
Best 60 Months — use the 60 best-earning months across an entire career as the pension wage base, instead of a lifetime average. This guarantees a fairer and significantly higher pension for most workers.
Proposed framework for a 10,000 THB/month minimum pension for all SSO insured workers — raising the standard of living for Thailand's elderly workforce.
Thailand's largest worker and insured-person community demanding rightful pension access. Founded 2020 (B.E. 2563) in response to the COVID-19 economic crisis.
Advocacy History
Launched SSO rights campaign on social media; built a nationwide network of insured workers demanding access to their own retirement savings.
Introduced the Choose–Withdraw–Borrow framework to the public and advocated for amendment of the Social Security Act.
Published the Best 60 Months concept — using the top 60 wage-earning months for pension calculation instead of a career-long average.
Led opposition to the SSO Board's CARE formula, citing Supreme Court ruling 3307/2567. Simultaneously proposed a 10,000 THB/month minimum pension floor.
