🗳️ How to Vote
How many can I choose? How to mark the ballot without spoiling it
This election doesn't use an X mark — you write in the candidate's number yourself. This is where most mistakes happen.
1
Choose up to 7 numbers — you don't have to use them all
This is individual voting. You can choose just 1 person or up to 7. You don't have to pick from the same team — you can mix across teams as you like.
2
Write Arabic numerals only
E.g. 2, 13, 44 — one number per box. Don't write the same number in multiple boxes. Don't write names or marks instead of numbers.
3
Insured persons and employers use separate ballots
Each faction has its own candidate list and ballot. Officials will issue the correct ballot for your status.
4
Common reasons ballots get spoiled
Writing more than 7 numbers · duplicate numbers · Thai numerals or letters instead of Arabic numerals · illegible corrections · voting at the wrong polling unit

❓ FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible to vote?
Three groups of insured persons: Section 33 (formal employees), Section 39 (voluntary insured persons), and Section 40 (independent workers) with continuous status of ≥6 months and ≥3 months of contributions within the specified window — updated 23 Aug 2026: no pre-registration needed anymore.
I heard I needed to register before 20 July — is that still true?
No, that no longer applies. That requirement was struck down by the Central Administrative Court (final ruling 11 August 2026). If you saw old news about a registration deadline, don't worry — eligible voters can now go directly to the polls on election day.
If I registered, do I have to vote for whoever told me to register?
No. Registering (when it was required) only secured your "right to vote." On election day, you are completely free to choose any candidate you want.
If I registered, am I required to actually vote?
It's not mandatory, but strongly recommended — the SSO board oversees a fund of over 2.88 trillion baht, which belongs to every insured person.
How many candidates can I vote for in the SSO board election?
Up to 7 numbers per ballot. You don't have to use all 7, and you don't have to pick from the same team — you can mix across teams.
How do I mark the ballot?
Write the candidate's number using Arabic numerals (e.g. 2, 13, 44) in the voting box — not an X mark. No duplicate numbers, no names or other text, or the ballot will be spoiled.
Do all 7 of my choices have to be from the same team?
No. This is individual voting — you can mix across teams however best matches what you're looking for — see a comparison of the 5 teams plus independents →
Who is Dr. Boon, and why does this site encourage registering (or voting)?
Dr. Boon Arayapon (D.V.M., LL.B.) is the founder of the "Refund, Not Charity" advocacy group and a 100% independent candidate, No. 2, for the SSO Board, campaigning on insured-worker rights — we encourage everyone to vote, and to freely choose whichever candidate they want, because this right belongs to you, not to us.
